Fashion Inspiration - Brilliant Accents

I love bright colour and and am always inspired by it, but you don't have to be covered from head to toe in it to make a statement. One of my current trend obsessions is the combination of splashes of lively, bright colours with neutral colours.

For example, check out these neon accented looks from the S/S08 runways of Costume National, Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui and Jil Sander.

On the streets, intense colour highlights on clothing and accessories help these girls stand out from the crowd. The mostly muted colours of their outfits help to balance out the blindingly bright colours for a great mix of playfulness and sophistication.

Each of these fabulous ladies below incorprates this look to suit their personal style. Laia rocks out her neon green miniskirt (
Geometric Sleep), Silje looks lovely in her turquoise blue jacket (Silje's Fashion), The Seeker brightens up with vivid red shoes (Searching the Inner Me) and Nourahshammari's yellow clutch adds a pop of colour to her simple and chic casual outfit (Nourahshammari's Chic Blog).

Some of you might remember, I even tried this look myself a little while ago with a dark patterned wrap blouse over a bright yellow dress and black accessories.

If small doses of bright colour is what you're looking for, check out these items below.

I tend to go for this look because I wear sooooooo much black that I need to throw splashes of color on the palette. Wonderful post as usual.

great post! I love pops of color, its a good way to go a bit bold without totally drawing attention to yourself, i'm a big believer in the power of yellow and red, I have a yellow belt, beads, bags, shoes etc. And a pair of red snakeskin pointy-toed ballet flats I'm addicted to

I completely agree, danz! I love the neutral tones paired with a vibrant accessory or pop of color. That giraffe weekend bag is great!

I like bright colors but I prefer having my accessories in bright colors! Definitely not head to toe!

This is such a fab fashion sense! The bright colour really highlights the whole outfit and shows the layers of the neutral tones! Darling, you know how to match! You REALLY REALLY DO!

You look FABULOUS with that pop-of-neon, babe! I'm digging the neon trend a bit, too - but just like you posted - not too much, not too little. I can't wait for the new Chanel nail colors to come out, I'll take florescent polish any day!

I hope you're well, babe! Speak soon, xooxox

Thanks Acielle!

Thanks Cheryl...I know what you mean. I can never wear all black for some reason, there has to be some kind of colour in there! Also, thanks very much for the comment on my outfit :D

Thanks Jayne :) I like yellow but I don't have many things in yellow :S I have mostly red and blue but I'd like to have clothing in all colors!

Thanks Silje and you're welcome :)

Hey hiking in stilettos, I love that bag too! Then again, I tend to like anything in giraffe print haha!

Preach it Imelda!!

I definitely agree, goddess! Neon colour is really cool and trendy!

Thanks pammish! We all need more colour in our lives :)

Thank you so much Sharon, and I know you look amazing in bright colours too ;)

Thanks margherita! You should try it, couldn't hurt right?

Haha Fashion ivy, I'm used to getting strange looks with a lot of the things I wear.

Hey yiqin, I like head to toe colour as well but it really depends on what colours they are. Bright colours are everywhere in Barbados so it wouldn't look strange here!

Thank you so much times of glory!! You are such a sweetheart, your comments always make me smile :)

Thanks a lot Laurel darling! Yeah, fluorescent polish is a great way to work in a little neon colour!

Thanks jess, those sunglasses are cool, aren't they!

Thank you so much Danz for including me in this great post. I'm really touched.

You're so right about some pops of colour in those outfits that sometimes are neutral, and it's a great way for girls who are a bit afraid of colour to wear it.

You look awesome darling in your yellow+black+white outfit.

And these splashes of colour in the pieces you picked are very nice.
The white skirt with the pink belt is so nice...

Thank you again sweetie.

xoxo
