Like it or not? - F21 Ombre Skirt

I'm not the biggest fan of the ombre trend but I think it can look nice when the transition from one colour to another is subtle.

That's why I kind of shuddered when I saw this skirt from Forever21. It looks as though they began to dye it black and then realized they didn't have as much fabric as they thought so they just threw the pink on at the end. I actually have to squint a little to look at it properly but maybe that's the effect they were going for.

It's a little too much for me but what do you think?

I do love ombre-but I think this colourway is rather severe looking

yeah, I'm not a huge fan of this trend either, it comes off as tacky unless the color gradient is very subtle. Interestingly, I haven't seen many real people wearing this look (other than the DIY gradient tights that were all over the blogosphere for awhile). I like the way tie dye looks much better at the moment.

Yes Sharon, severe! That's the word I was looking for!

I definitely agree that it can look tacky Violetwired. I've been seeing this effect on clothing since I was young and most of the time, it looked cheap. Actually, tie dye can also be very tricky if not done well, but like Ombre there are some that can look good.

I like Batik prints in general - this one is too tough, though, and the transition is so far from smooth - it is not exactly pretty. Hmm, there's too much black actually I think. I wouldn't mind wearing it if someone gave it to me, though *lol*

I do love the ombre trend but not this skirt - def. too severe.

I think its quite stunning,
I would look PERFECT with a black v-neck or something...

Yuck. Not my thing. I just prefer clothing with more defined lines, and the blur created by ombre...too sketchy.

hmm I like Marc Jacobs LV ombre, but this makes the wearer look like a neaopolitan ice cream cone, which isn't very becoming or sophisticated, blegh

I really like the way this one is done. It's fresh and different from the ones that I usually see.

Hmmm...I am not a big fan of Ombre nor this skirt, but I have seen some that I like. F21 sure makes it easy to buy into a trend with no guilt though.

haha Ida, free clothing can be very appealing.

yeah always in style, as I said, I prefer when the transition is smoother.

that girl, enc and kira, I guess it's one of those things I'd have to see in real life to know how good it actually looks.

lol jayne, good comparison, it does look like one.

thanks style and the city:)

I think I prefer the two toned as well lil midget.

lml, I think the color combination is one of my biggest issues with this skirt.

yea most definitely psyche! their stuff usually looks good and very inexpensive!

i love the contrast and severity of moving from stark black to white to delicate pink. and i don't associate tie dye or ombre or dip dye with a lack of sophistication (hippies, anyone?) haha. to me, designers are reworking this look in a great new way. love it!
