Like it or not? - JAIRO Zip-Up Corset Halter Dress

Exposed zippers are one of the biggest fashion trends of the season and for good reason. They're hot!

Zippers are no longer just a functional piece of hardware, they also serve as a stylish embellishment for clothing. Exposed zippers were first seen on the 2007 runways of Lanvin, Derek Lam and Chloé and they are still as, or even more, popular a year later.

I came across this black halter dress with exposed zipper front and while I think the dress looks cool from far, closer inspection reveals a texture that reminds me a lot of a papier mache craft project and that turns me off. Aside from this negative, however, I think the dress is quite cute and sexy!

What do you think? Hot dress or cheap craft project?

  1. Hmmm i think the idea/concept of zipper exposure is creative but gor some reason i'm not completely 'meshing' with this design :(

Maybe you're right in that its the fabric? Oooh, i don't know..... :P

  3. i think it's perfect if you're looking for a sexy look. but, i like the zipper trend in less sexy items because i think an exposed zipper is already sexy on it's own. throwing it on a corset lacey dress makes it a little too vavavoom!

  4. It's a cool idea. Executed correctly, it can look superb. I bet you could get a dress, and simply sew a full zipper on top of it, just for looks. Who cares if it's functional?

  7. hmm, I am not sure how I feel about the whole exposed zipper. In some looks I think it can be great, but others not so much.

  8. I enjoy the look. I have a few pieces of clothing that shows off the zipper. And yes, this dress is wicked. I would be able to work with it.

  11. This is tricky. I think its a little more on the trashy side, but if worn with the right accessories I think it could be cute.

  15. The idea is original and cool, but I don't like the final effect. To me it's more like a cheap craft project...

  21. personally, i like it... i think depending on the shoes, hair, and bag it can be made to look cheap or very expensive. i lvoe the zipper in the front, just make sure no one pulls it down... that would be horrible!

  28. I really like the corset styling and the zipper down the middle, but I really can't agree with it being a halter top. It just makes it look a bit trashy to me.

  29. yeah, i'm not a fan of the fabric too much. i do like the style of the dress, though. the exposed zipper...i'm not too sure in this context. however, i'm ok with the concept in general.

  32. Personally, I love the idea of something like this... if I had it I would definitely tone it down with some feminine touches (that's just me) but I think on the right person, worn in the right way, it would be pretty great!

  33. i like it, yet, i would want it large enough to wear a white cotton shirt or something.
