Met Costume Gala - Make me a superhero!

The Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala held on May 6 brought out the heavy hitters in both fashion and entertainment. The theme for the night was "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" but it was more fashion than fantasy.

While most of the dresses that night were gorgeous, many did not reflect the theme at all. However, there were few brave souls who took the risk and did their best interpretation of the superhero fantasy theme, both retro and futuristic. Some of these dresses would not have worked on a normal red carpet but as it was a costume gala, I think they were perfectly fitting.

So my question to you, who had the best superhero(ine) costume?

    Christina Ricci for sure! And Rachel Bilson is TOO petite for that Calvin Klein dress.

    Wasn't it kind of weak that few stepped up to the Superhero Plate and wore "costumes?" Anna Wintour did (lol), and Christina Ricci looked cool. The rest just looked like people always do at galas—beautiful, but not very SuperHero.

    I expected a lot more from this gala. If you're invited to a costume party, why not wear a costume?

    I think too many people were concerned with how gorgeous the public would think they look.

    So what if people talk about you, at least you had fun! I know Anna Wintour could care less about what people think.
