Everybody gettin' high-waisted

It seems as though the high waist trend has been around forever, but it's obviously not going anywhere anytime soon either. High waisted pants and skirts are still appearing on the bodies of women everywhere who desire to hide their torsos and make their legs appear miles longer than they really are.

Evidence of the immense popularity of the high waist look is especially apparent on Copenhagen Street Style where these four ladies below, as well as others, are wearing high waisted outfits in posts on the front page alone.

Still, I always find it so fascinating how one look or trend can be interpreted in totally different ways. I think the fact that there are many high waisted styles to choose from is what has, thus far, prevented this trend from going stale.

Lauren Conrad, Duffy, Katie Holmes and Nicole Richie all wear different styles of high-waisted bottoms that reflect their individual tastes and personalities.

  1. ida at rougemarie is incredible with her high waisted number.. well I did go out to get a pair myself as my prediction for hot hot hot S/S hit is just that - high waisted and/or wide legged jeans with a white top. alas.. it's not meant to be.. I just can't wear them! tragic.. I just have to settle with my good ol' low rise bootleg.

  2. I kinda-sorta like the look. But of course, it would be hard for some to pull it off.

  3. I love the gingham skirt.
I can't really do high waisted, sadly. I have an odd shaped figure which means nothing seems to fit right.

  8. I love high-waisted looks when well done, I mean according to one's proportions.
And I'm in this trend with some pieces, but not too accentuated.
    Love the pieces you picked.

  9. Golly - I'm in love with that first look from Copenhagen but I fear wearing big chunky shoes with a little mini like that - on her it's divine, on me, not so much!

  16. I know just what you mean -- I can't get enough of this look! I think maybe it's also able to straddle the line between trend and classic partly because it harkens to some old fashioned looks from the 30s and 40s.

Honey i get my shoes all over but I do love TOPSHOP for quality and variety. so try topshop. www.topshop.com i think they ship internationally and the sizes are in british sizing so an american 11 is a british 9. Next also do our size and its www.next.co.uk,im not sure if they ship internationally though.also sometimes i wear an american 10(british size 8) in some brands as Carvela,Kurt geiger.let me know how it goes.muah!Marian

  25. i think gingham and high-waisted combined channels such an ol'-skool feel which i utterly dig.

  26. I like highwaisted skirts. I actually just bought two yesterday, very similar to the one Lauren Conrad is wearing.

I think highwaisted jeans or shorts would look terrible on me though.
