Lighten up, Denim!

Another '80s/'90s trend to make a comeback this summer is light wash denim. While dark denim is classic and universally more flattering, light denim is appealing because it has a fresh and casual look which is a great mix for summer. It may not be for everyone but if you like it and can pull it off, by all means, go for it!

Pictured below are light denim looks that were present on the S/S08 runways of Alexander Wang and Christopher Kane and also on the streets of London and New York.

    That jumper dress is really cute, although I'm probably a little to old for it. I could probably still pull off those VS high waisted shorts though :-)

    On the jean thing, I have to say I haven't been a jean person lately, but this year I rescued a pair of wide leg light Levi's from the past, and they really work for this year's "flare" tendance.

    Well, usually I don't wear denim for work, just at hilidays and weekends, and I do prefer the dark one.
    But I think I'm becoming very into the light denim tops, not much in the botoms. But I'm feeling in love with the jacket,
    I digg my closet and found a shirt from the early 90's, maybe I'll try it as some kind of jacket.

    I am not a light jean wash fan, cause its not that flattering...lol..but the urban outfitters denim skirt is cute, something I would wear!

    Yep i've got my fair share of the denim....Love little cropped jean jackets...I just can't stand jean on jean,...its a hard look to pull off!

    I never really liked the light denim look. I think it was really light denim pants that I didn't like though because the shorts and the jumper is really cute! With the pants their is just too much light denim fabric going on there. Haha.

    I did´t know that Vero Moda was in the USA too!In Spain there are lots of these shops and I don´t like because they have low quality clothes.

    Danz, what a great trend report! I was saying that the other day! You are so right light denim has this fresh and casual feel! I particularly love icy grey and dirty light blue! I think they are superb for summer and really bring out the character of the clothes, dear!

    hey danz! light denim... well, you have definitely brought out the best light denim looks. light denim skinny jeans with heals is so dirty looking it works. does that make sense?!? laf. i also think the light jean cropped jacket would work very well with summer dresses.

    I've seen lighter jeans at Forever 21 a few days ago at a mall called The Block in Orange County. I can wear my light overalls I've had that have been sitting in my closet. I knew they would make a comeback.

    I agree with the comings of light denim! even though it's terribly unflattering, I love the way it looks in contrast with all shades of clothing.
